Need some fresh air?
The Garrett County State Parks offer their First Day Hikes on New Year’s Day. At Herrington Manor State Park, the hike starts at 1pm and you are invited to bring your (well-behaved, on a leash) dog with you. A a park ranger will guide this hike around Herrington Manor and will inform you about what you need to know when you bring your dog to a state park. Although in some counties the landfills are ready to accept and recycle your Christmas trees, it would be a shame to throw it out just yet. After the hustle and bustle of gift giving and visiting with friends and family, now you could just enjoy your Christmas decorations and your beautiful Christmas tree. What to do on New Year’s Eve
Still no plans for New Year’s Eve? There is a couple of events scheduled in the area: Dutch’s at Silvertree offers a New Year’s Celebration from 7pm to 1am. There will be a Cocktail Hour, a dinner, a Champagne Toast at midnight, a New Year’s Buffet and dance and live music. A break!
Don’t bother removing all the snow from your driveway yet…. Just in time for Christmas Winter will give us a break. From Friday on temperatures in the Mid-50s are expected for the Deep Creek Lake area. Seems like we will have to change plans for the weekend a little, from skiing to a walk or a run in the (green) woods. Here is another easy Christmas cookie recipe. It’s done in no time and without coconut macaroons there really is something missing during Christmas. Enjoy them with a cup of coffee, after lunch or dinner or simply whenever you feel like having one. Here is good news to all all-season outdoor enthusiasts: The area around Deep Creek Lake, MD is not only in summer a wonderful playground, but offers lots of outdoor activities in winter, too. Although the temperatures have been rising a little bit, please still be very careful when you have to be on the road. This rollercoaster weather will bring temperatures in the high thirties today, with a light drizzle that could freeze and make the roadways really slick.
